BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Oct. 28, 2019 – One of the best to ever play on the PGA Tour picked up a record-tying tour victory this weekend at the ZOZO Championship in Japan, and he did it in cleated footwear.
Overcoming inclement weather and a highly competitive field, the ZOZO Championship winner claimed his 82nd career tour win, tying legend Sam Snead’s record for the most career tour wins. Each and every win of this player’s 23-year professional career has come in cleated footwear, as he has never wavered or been influenced by fashionable trends or unproven technology.
“With the conditions changing often, the event in Japan is the perfect example of the importance of cleated footwear,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports. “The most successful player in tour history knows that stability, traction and control make a difference with every swing.”
The ZOZO Championship winner wore Nike Air Zoom TW71 footwear with Stinger replaceable cleats from Champ®. On the leaderboard, 17 of the top 21 finishers chose cleated footwear over spikeless/tennis shoes.
Two other winners on the professional tours this week also chose cleated footwear. On the LPGA Tour, the winner of the BMW Ladies Championship wore FootJoy® MyJoy shoes with Softspikes® Pulsar cleats. On the European Tour, the winner of the Portugal Masters wore Nike Vapor React 2 footwear with Softspikes® Silver Tornado cleats.
Replacement Softspikes® and Champ® cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.
PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP and Softspikes brands. The company recommends golfers change their cleats every six to eight months – or even more frequently based on use – to ensure golfers get the maximum performance out of their footwear.
CHAMP’s Helix®, Zarma Tour® and Stinger® cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix®, Pulsar®, Silver Tornado® and Stealth® cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales. More information can be found at www.champspikes.com and www.Softspikes.com.
